According to the newspaper article dated 7th April, 2024 by Ella Wilcox, Reporter of Warrington Guardian
‘Warrington itself has historically straddled the county lines between Lancashire and Cheshire, with the River Mersey acting as the county boundary.’
Warrington was once part of Lanchaire dating back to 1889. Later, whena two-tier system was applied by the local government in order to share the responbilities between a county council and a borough coucil, Warrington was passed onto Cheshire in 1974.
